Arshiya gracefully blended shimmering fabrics & soft colours

A collection that emphasized the importance of Now.ism is how Arshiya Fakih Eapen for Araiya sees fashion for Autumn/Winter 2008 at Lakme Fashion Week.

Inspired by Utopia it was a blend of colours that ranged from blue, green, and magenta to touches of black, grey and beige.

Fabrics were a shimmering range of silk, satin and velvet with interesting doses of embellishments in black, icy silver and burnished gold.

The textures were sometimes firm and at other times delicately fluid. Silhouettes by Arshiya were restricted to just micro minis which were presented in a variety of styles and drapes.

Fabric texturing on silk was achieved with crushing, pinching wave embossing, while crepe, satin, silk and Lycra were also given the rubberized treatment.

Digital amplified prints added interest to the dresses along with pleating and embroidery. It was a very young collection that had discreet embroidery.

The interesting entries were the Noori embossed jersey dress with pleated sleeves and hem, the suede dress with antique gold bullet embellishment, the drop waist satin pleated dress with a criss cross back, the cute smock with silver square buttons and rubberized treatment, the digital leather foam effect printed satin dress with puff sleeves and side drape and the white satin tube dress with antique silver work.

The showstopper was worn by actor Dia Mirza, who gracefully walked the ramp in a long green gown with beautiful embroidery on the bodice and front.
